About SailTime Monterey Bay - Meet Base Owner Greg Wolfson

Hi, I'm Greg Wolfson, owner of SailTime Monterey Bay. Welcome to the most spectacular and pristine marine sanctuary in the U.S. - an ideal sailing grounds for the whole family.

My interest in sailing has been life long, but my passion for sailing truly took hold while traveling with my wife and daughter for an extended sojourn in the South Pacific. In New Zealand, where sailing is a way of life, I had the opportunity to sail sloop, schooner and ketch, and even tried my hand on a refurbished America's cup - NZ40.

When I returned to the states, my father and I fulfilled a life long dream as we achieved our US Sailing bareboat certification in the British Virgin Islands. Transformed by the experience, I was determined to find a way to bring the joy of sailing to my home in the Monterey Bay area.

The Monterey Peninsula provides some of the most awe inspiring natural surroundings of any sailing grounds on the Pacific Coast. Through the SailTime Fractional Sailing program, Northern Californians can easily experience sailing in these beautiful waters. SailTime Monterey Bay affords you a share in the use of brand new yacht without the management hassles or never-ending expenses associated with owning a boat.

My wife Sandra and I started SailTime Monterey Bay in the fall of 2005. Our first Yacht, Madeline Schell, is a Hunter 33’ named after our daughter. She is a fine mid-sized keelboat for sailing the Bay and an ideal yacht to learn to sail on. In 2007, we added Alyssa Noelle, a Hunter 38’, to our fleet. A fully outfitted, coastal cruiser, she provides our members with a larger, greater displacement vessel offering the opportunity to entertain family and friends in fine style. Both yachts are configured with the latest in navionics, radar and cabin comforts.

In the Spring of 2007, we started our own American Sailing Association sailing school to provide our members with tailored and comprehensive sail instruction. Dan Counts, an experienced USCG and delivery captain, leads our team of instructors; all of whom are well versed with the ASA curriculum, and have deep knowledge of the local waters and the SailTime program.
