SailTime Monterey Bay ASA Sailing School

Do you want to learn to sail in a pristine marine sanctuary where we give private lessons tailored to your needs and the SailTime program? That is what the SailTime Monterey Bay Sailing School is all about. Members purchase a SailTime training package that provides 6 private, sail instruction sessions with our experienced, ASA qualified, USCG captains. Novice sailors can use these tailored instructional sessions to learn to sail and complete the required ASA 101 and 103 certifications. Experienced sailors can refresh their sailing skills, augment their certification level and take advanced sailing clinics. Our sailing school offers a range of ASA certifications -- 101- Basic Keel Boat, 103 - Basic Coastal Cruising, and 104 - Bareboat Cruising -- plus custom sailing clinics on navigating with a GPS/Chart-plotter, sailing with radar, sailing to other harbors and night sailing.

Once you have mastered the required courses, SailTime's exclusive Novice to Captain program goes above and beyond the normal curriculum of an ASA school giving you even more confidence and skill to sail in all conditions anywhere. Graduate from the Novice to Captain program and skipper a yacht in one of our SailTime regattas held in the British Virgin Islands.

Never Sailed Before?

If you've never sailed before, we start you out on our Hunter 33’ keelboat to learn the basics. Once you’ve completed ASA 101 Basic Keel Boat, you will advance to ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising and learn how to sail the boat that you will join as a SailTime member. Our private sailing instruction insures that you are both capable and confident sailing your yacht.

All SailTime Members must be ASA 101 and 103 certified, or equivalent, to skipper their yacht. To encourage your spouse and crewmates to learn to sail along with you, we offer special SailTime packages that make sailing instruction quite affordable.
